A former member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Dapo Lam Adesina, has charged corporate bodies to invest more in sports development.
Speaking at the third edition of Oyo Celebrity 5-A-Side Football League played at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan on Sunday, the former Sports Commissioner in Oyo State said it was necessary for corporate entities to see to sports promotion in the country.
He called for support from corporate entities in the country to support sporting activities so as to engage the young ones.
He said: “I’m using this platform to appeal to the corporate sector to support sporting events. What we are doing here today needs more support, things like this are done in part of the country like Lagos, Abuja, the corporate world just needs to assist while also praying that the state government will also have resources to be able to support this initiative. It’s a very good one, it might not have enough as the organisers expected but they should keep pushing.”

“Every individual needs to engage in exercise, even, I myself realised that I have not been doing so much because I could not play more than 15th minute on the field of play which is not good, so, I need to return to the days of walking out,” he advised.
Meanwhile, the convener of the programme, Abimbola Oladipo said the objectives of the league “footytainment” event are; to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth of individuals and development of the family.
“To promote collaboration and business networking amongst celebrities and stakeholders in Oyo State (Government Institutions, Corporate Organisations, Entertainment and, Media Sector); to motivate these stakeholders to collaborate for the development of the State and do business within themselves.”

The event was attended by several personalities include, Honourable Dapo Lam Adesina; Honourable Shina Peller; Barrister Abayomi Oke; Honourable Yusuf Adebisi, Regional Manager, Polaris Bank, Dr Abimbola Akorede; Regional Manager, Coca-Cola, Mr Akin Steve Ojo and Jide Adeyemi among others.
