Flying Eagles and Akwa United midfielder Aniekeme Okon may soon be invited for trials by D.C. United FC of the United States of America.
Sportingtribune.com gathered that Okon was spotted and recommended to the head coach of D.C. United by one of the U.S. scouts accredited by the world football governing body FIFA at the ongoing world Youth soccer championship in Poland.
The scout Sportingtribune understands is working for D.C. United and few top clubs in the Major League Soccer has furnished D.C.’s head coach Ben Olsen with enough information to convince him on why Okon should be invited for trials with a view to singing the Nigerian junior international.

This much was given credence by major Daily Newspapers in Washington D.C. and New York City confirming that the 4 times MLS champions are interested in signing Okon.
However, the Chairman of Akwa United FC, Mr Paul Bassey, said he’s yet to receive any message from the management of D.C. United concerning the player.
“Okon is our player. Nobody has spoken to me” Paul Bassey said.
Okon is expected to be in the United States December/January for the trials if everything works out between the two clubs because the current MLS season ends on October 6 while the 2020/2021 season kicks off in March.
A total of 155 scouts are currently in Poland.
