David De Gea is set to sign a new five-year deal at Manchester United ‘imminently’ to end speculation over a move to Real Madrid, say reports.
A report in The Independent states “discussions have progressed to the point where all parties feel De Gea will imminently agree a new five-year deal.”
The Spanish shot-stopper has one year remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford, although United have the option to extend that agreement for a further 12 months.
Madrid attempted to sign the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper in 2015 but the move broke down at the eleventh hour due to a late fax missing the transfer deadline.
The European champions are set to turn their attention to Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker this summer.
