Nigeria international, Cyriel Dessers, has lamented lack of playing time after seeing just 30 minutes of action in Feyenoord’s 3-3 draw against Slavia Prague in the first leg of their Europa Conference League quarter-final tie.
Seeking game time, the 27-year-old left the Beker Van Belgie champions for Feyenoord, and since he joined, he has been explosive for the former Dutch champions. Dessers has scored twelve times and assisted four in 31 appearances
However, he has been more deadly in the Europa Conference League. The former FC Utrecht man has six goals and two assists in nine appearances. And amusingly, Dessers has started just three games in the Conference League.
Going into the first leg against Slavia Prague, the Nigeria international expected that his performances would earn him a place on the starting lineup, but he was disappointed, as he saw just thirty minutes of action.

“I thought yesterday that I would have the confidence of the coach (Arne Slot) and that I would play,” Dessers told Het Laatste Nieuws as per Voetbalkrant.
“I only heard after the press conference that I would not start.
“I just really want to go to the semi-finals, and I always put the team above the individual. Of course, I want to do even better myself, but I’m not Thierry Henry.
“But certainly, in European competitions, my worth has been proven.”
Despite his reduced game time, Dessers still instrumental, as he assisted Feyenoord’s second goal. He would hope to get more time on the pitch when his side travels to Prague for the second leg next week.
