Diafra Sakho departs for Rennes

West Ham United can confirm that striker Diafra Sakho has joined French Ligue 1 club Rennes on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee.

The 28-year-old departs east London after three-and-a-half seasons in Claret and Blue, during which he scored 24 goals in 71 first-team appearances.

After joining from Metz in summer 2014, Sakho started his Hammers career well, scoring in on his first six Premier League starts to equal a record, winning the top-flight’s Player of the Month award in October of the same year.

However, injuries and competition for places have restricted the Senegal international’s appearances over the last two years, and he has started just two Premier League matches since the start of the 2016/17 season.

West Ham would like to thank Diafra for his efforts and wish him well for his future career.
