Dogara hails Falcons, Oparanozie

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Yakubu Dogara has hailed the victory of the Super Falcons over hosts, the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon on Saturday to win the 10th Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON).

Dogara through his twitter handle, Rt Hon Yakubu Dogara@SpeakerDogara said the victory of the team coached by ex-Falcons captain, Florence Omagbemi was unique.

“The Super Falcons have earned a special place in our history and their victory today is a victory for all Nigerians.

“I would like to specifically commend Desire Oparanozie, who scored the goal that gave us decisive victory over the Indomitable Lionesses,” Dogara tweeted.

The Player of the Match, Desire Oparanozie, was short of words after her 84th minute’s strike at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium, Yaounde, delivered the AWCON title for Nigeria for the record eighth time.

The EA Guincamp of France player through her twitter handle oparanozie desire@oparanozie9 said the feeling of winning the African title was great saying: “I lack words. The feeling is amazing. All I can say is thank you Lord”.

Her team-mate, Fracisca Ordega was equally on cloud nine after the match.

The forward through her twitter handle ordega francisca@OrdegaF tweeted: “Congrats to me and my teammates…all I have to say is thank you God I give u thanks and praise…”

Meanwhile, governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola through his twitter handle, Rauf Aregbesola@raufaregbesola tweeted: I congratulate the Super Falcons who are champions of Africa for the 8th time. Big congratulations also to Florence Omagbemi and her crew.”
