Drinkwater secures Burnley move

Burnley have announced the arrival of Chelsea midfielder, Danny Drinkwater on loan until January 6th.

Drinkwater has spent the last two years at Chelsea but has endured a nightmare spell at Stamford Bridge.

The former England international didn’t make a single Premier League appearance under Maurizio Sarri last season and has failed to impress new manager, Frank Lampard.

Lampard was willing to give Drinkwater a second chance but the midfielder failed to grasp his opportunity in pre-season.

Chelsea spent in excess of £30m to prise Drinkwater from Leicester in the summer of 2017 and he has been a huge disappointment for the Blues.

Chelsea failed to attract any suitors for Drinkwater last summer due to his high wages but Burnley have now offered the 29-year-old the chance to kickstart his career.

Drinkwater is the fifth signing Burnley have made this summer but the first midfield addition, as Sean Dyche looks to improve from last season’s underwhelming campaign.
