Amidst speculations and allegation against Lagos state over the use of a foreigner at the boxing event of the ongoing National Sports Festival, the state govt has debunked it describing it as a rumour.
There was an allegation that Lagos state paraded a Benin Republic citizen as its representative in a boxing bout at the festival.
Reacting to this speculation at the Sam Ogbemudia Stadium on Sunday is the Lagos State Sports Association coordinator, Mr Ola Uthman Okunnu who spoke with Tribunesports saying that the allegations was baseless and unfounded.
According to him, “In the first instance, Lagos are not known to be cheat and there was no reason to use a foreigner cos we have good boxers that can stand the test of time. Aside that, it is not in the rules of the game to parade foreigners so why should we do that”, he said.
