The Edo State Football Association, headed by Mr Frank Ilaboya, has come hard on the two clubs that caused a fracas at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium during one of the semi-finals of the FA Cup in the state last Wednesday.
After the FA emergency board meeting held on Thursday to review the decisions of the Edo FA disciplinary committee, the Edo FA decided that Dymamite FC who were leading 3-2, when fracas broke out have been awarded the match. They will thus play Bendel Insurance of Benin today in the FA Cup final.
BJ Foundations FC, whose players allegedly caused the fracas have been banned for all Edo FA-organised tournaments for one year, while the coach of the team and his assistants have been banned for one and two years in that order. The assistant coach was also fined N50,000 for acts bordering on disrepute to the game of football.
Three players of BJ Foundations and two from Dynamite Fc have also been banned from all football activities organised by the Edo FA for two years. The two clubs are also to be responsible for repairs of facilities damaged at the stadium during the match, as BJ Foundations have been ordered to foot the medical bills of the referee that was reported brutally injured in the game.
Already, Inneh Stars, who lost to Insurance in the semis, are now third place winners.
