The out of favour Super Eagles’ defender has lauded his impressive debut season with Finnish side where he featured prominently
Nigeria international, Azubuike Egwuekwe has expressed delight at the productive end to his first season in Europe.
Egwuekwe has been impressive for KuPS where he featured prominently for Marko Rajamäki’s team, and he has urged his teammates to end the season with a home win against PS Kemi.
“We were unable to reach our early season projections but on a personal note I can that I really enjoyed the soon to end seaso,” Egwuekwe told Goal.
“In only my first season in Europe, I scored six goals for my club and also played in virtually all the matches.
“We need to apologise to our fans for not making it to any of the European club competitions next season as we were slowed down because of the blip we had at a time where we were beaten four straight matches.
“We couldn’t recover from that and it is the reason we have finished outside the teams that represent Finland in Europe next season.”
