The Borno army recorded victory against the lower league side to send a message to their Premier League rivals
El Kanemi Warriors showed a glimpse of what to expect during the next Nigeria Professional Football League season after they defeated Doma United 4-2 in a pre-season friendly match played at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe on Sunday night.
The Borno Army moved to Gombe last week to continue their build up to the new premier league season after ending the first phase in Maiduguri and the Ladan Bosso led boys quickly adjusted to life in their new enclave with an emphatic win over the Nigeria Nationwide League side.
The club’s Media Officer, Anthony Obaseki said that they are in Gombe to take part in the north East tournament to test their strength and weaknesses ahead of the new league season and that the win over Doma United was only a tip of the iceberg.
“We are in Gombe after we rounded off our training in Maiduguri last week,” Obaseki told Goal.
“It has been a very grueling pre-season for us and we are giving it our best shot.
“We decided to face Doma United in Gombe to see our readiness for the North East tournament. We will play same team on Monday but it was nice we are aware of what to expect against them.”
El Kanemi will face same Doma United during the tournament proper on Monday and they will also slug it with Gombe United and Wikki Tourists in other matches of the tourney.
