El Marino, a Lagos based Sports club, whose aim is to promote physical development of members through sporting activities, has commended members of the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their sterling performance which resulted in the defeat of the Desert Warriors of Algeria by 3 goals to 1.
The Club also appealed to all Nigerians including the Federal and state governments to give the Super Eagles the desired support in their quest for qualification for the 2018 World Cup in Russia
The team manager of El Marino Sports Club, Mr Seyi Adefarati who spoke on behalf of the Club, described the victory in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, as a sign of better things to come.
While commending the dexterity and the winning mentality displayed by the team, Adefarati particularly eulogised the team captain, Mikel Obi, who scored the second goal, describing him as a player of unrivalled quality.
“The victory of last Saturday was refreshing, I am proud of the team and we look forward to more successes in the race towards Russia 2018 World Cup, the Federal and State governments should not leave any stone unturned in our quest to be at the World Cup in Russia”, he stated.
“The victory means that Nigeria retains top spot in Group B having amassed maximum points from their first two games. As lovers of sports, It is a situation that we all at El Marino Sports Club are proud of”, he said.
Adefarati, who recently emerged the El Marino team manager is also a member of the National Football Supporters Club. Other elected members of the new executive committee of the club include Adelokun Lawal (Secretary General), Igho Obajuwana (Financial Secretary), Uchech iOkere (Provost), Benjamin Ogbekhilu (Welfare Officer), Chris Anazia (Team Captain) and Edirin Yugbovre (Auditor).
On his new position, Adefarati promised to provide the desired leadership, which will help realise the objectives of the club. He said his vision is to make El Marino the number one sports club in the country and believe this can be achieved with the support of the executive members.
