… as teams compete for N40 million prize money
Enyimba FC of Aba U19 team and their Kwara United counterparts will try each other for size in the opening game of the Super 8 of the maiden edition of Nigeria Youth League Cup (N-YLC) which commences on Monday, June 23, 2025, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos.
Eight teams comprising Plateau United FC, Kano Pillars, Kwara United and Mailartanki FC of Abuja from the northern conference and Enyimba FC of Aba, Atlantic Business FC of Lagos, Shuffle Select FC of Lagos and Sunshine FC of Akure from the southern conference, made it to the Super 8 in a journey that started with 23 teams in April 2024.

President of the N-YLC, Robinson Adakosa, while addressing the media on Tuesday in Abuja, said the Super 8 Championship will feature four matches daily in a round-robin format. He added that the League is determined to create a level- playing field and create opportunities for young players to excel.
“This season has not only showcased remarkable talent but also attracted attention from European scouts, with plans to continue nurturing these young athletes. Our mission is to inspire youths to practice sportsmanship, scholarship, and physical fitness in a safe and structured environment,” Adakosa said.
While thanking the leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as well as the participating teams for their support, he stressed the league’s commitment to youth development by providing a world-class football experience for teenagers and young adults between the age of 16 and 19.
A total prize money of N40 million is at stake with the winner receiving N10 million, the runners-up N8 million as other teams too are expected to smile home with substantial rewards.
