EPL coaches praise Chelsea’s Victor Moses

Chelsea’s wing backs Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses have been lavished with praise for their ‘fantastic’ performances this season after helping the Blues restore their seven point Premier League advantage.

They won 3-1 at Bournemouth on Saturday evening, Alonso bagging the third with an excellent free kick, while Moses showed his importance in the Chelsea team again, having been missing when they lost 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace.

Harry Redknapp was effusive in his praise for two players who before this season had endured undistinguished Premier League careers – Alonso as a left back at Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland, Moses in disappointing loan spells at Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham United.

Speaking as a pundit on BT Sport, Redknapp said: ‘He played here three or four years ago, he was at Bolton. He’s a lovely footballer, absolute quality, he has got a great left foot. His delivery is top class, he always looks very composed, and he suits the system.

‘Moses was going nowhere in his career, suddenly in this system he has blossomed, he has been fantastic.’

Fellow pundit Glenn Hoddle was equally impressed, saying Alonso had proved the doubters wrong, after his big money move from Fiorentina last summer was initially greeted by scepticism.

Hoddle said: ‘He and Moses, at the beginning of the season people weren’t too sure about the wing backs, but they have proved themselves. Alonso has that lovely left foot balance.

‘The number of times they change the play, he is out there all the time. The diagonal pass is always in play.’
