EPL fans excited as Guinness Fanzone storms Ibadan

English Premier League (EPL) lovers in Ibadan on Saturday lauded Guinness Plc as the brewery stormed Ibadan with its FANZONE consumer promotion programme.

The FANZONE programme, a National Consumer Promotion was held at the Watershed Event Centre, Old-Ife road, Ibadan.

The FANZONE programme provided EPL fans the opportunity to watch the Saturday EPL matches, among which was Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur match and to showcase their passion for football.

The FANZONE activities were designed to celebrate Nigeria’s passion for football, music and to unite communities through incredible football experiences.

Some of the fans told Corporate Sport that the programme was laudable and expected of the brewery, which had excelled as a result of its great consumer relations.

Stephen Adegoke, an Arsenal fan said that such programme was laudable, adding it would expose consumers to experiences enjoyed in the developed world.

“I am a fan of Arsenal, a football club in the EPL and a lover of Guinness products. All I can say is that Guinness has always rewarded its customers through laudable promotion programmes,” he said.

Azeez Olaitain, a Manchester United fan in the EPL disclosed that the company has always shown interest in its customers, urging others to emulate such.

“This programme is good for many, particularly at this period of economy hardship. It was all fun and I will love them to keep it up,” he said.

Marketing Director, Guinness Nigeria, Nike Adebola, said that the company had launched the Guinness Fanzones knowing how passionate Nigerians were about music and football without inhibitions.

“As a brand, we realize that the Nigerian consumer is a restless go getter- one whose boldness is fueling a progressive, new spirit of Africa.

“The brand, an embodiment of this mindset is successfully putting itself right at the centre of this movement. Guinness Fanzones is to create totally different and amazing football experience.

“Our consumers are at the heart of what we do and we always strive to delight them,” she said.

Adebola said that the company has sustained a historic association to football in Nigeria through its sponsorship of the EPL broadcast in Nigeria on Super Sports.

She stated that the company has also sustained its sponsorship of the national team, Super Eagles and annual consumer promotions that rewarded fans who buy and enjoy Guinness while watching the game.

According to her, “two out of fourteen expected lucky winners of N1,000,000 each has already been recorded in the national consumer promotion while thousands have won five thousand naira and airtime daily.

“Also, 14 lucky consumers of Guinness Foreign Extra Stout will stand a chance to watch a game with international football icon, Thierry Henry when he visits Nigerian from December 17 to 18.”
