Al-Hilal Omdurman attacker, Azeez Shobowale has said that his team will not relax in the second leg of their final playoff round against Akwa United in Uyo, insisting that they will come to Nigeria with the same focus and determination exhibited in the first leg.
Two goals in the space of five minutes were all the Sudanese team needed in the first leg in Omdurman ahead of the return leg next week.
But Shobowale, who was withdrawn halfway through the match, told AOIFootball.com exclusively that their aim is to finish off Akwa United in their own backyard.
“Well, I will say we are happy with the result on Sunday; we scored two early goals in the first half and wanted to score more but Akwa United defended well in the second half, but we are happy they did not get an away goal.
“Coming to Nigeria for the return leg won’t be an easy task but we are well prepared for that and I’m sure we can finish off the work and qualify for the group stages,” Shobowale said.
He, however, confirmed that he would be fit for the return leg on the 17th of this month after taking a powerful shot to his head which made him unstable for some couple of minutes.
Akwa United will now need two unreplied goals to overturn the deficit suffered in Sudan if they are to stand any chance of progressing to the group phase proper of Africa’s second-tier club competition.
