Former International Femi Ajilore has emphasised the to develop sporting facilities in all six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Ajilore who is a board member of the FCT Football Association spoke in Gwagwalada, Abuja after inspecting facilities provided for the forthcoming Unity Preseason Tournament for NLO clubs in the North Central, said that the best way to develop sports in the capital city is to provide sporting facilities in the Area Councils, or further improve the existing ones.
“The few facilities that exist in the city centre is been overused and overstretched. But, if facilities are provided in the Area Councils, the pressure on the existing facilities will reduced, and more great players and sportsmen will be discovered from the Area Councils.”
The China Olympic Games silver medallist highly commended the organizers of the Unity Preseason tournament, and representative of the North Central in NLO Board, for their initiative to put the tournament together “this is a good initiative, I have to commend the Organisers for coming up with such an idea, and our representative in the NLO Board, Barrister Babatunde Akintade for collaborating with the organisers to get it done. This is what we call quality representation”.
He also commended the Gwagwalada Football Council for making their facilities available for the tournament. He advised teams to make good use of the tournament to prepare adequately for the new season.
He finally promised to support the organisers to ensure that the tournament comes out successful.
