Ex-NFF chairman, Ibrahim Galadima is dead

Kano Pillars FC has announced the death of a former Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, who passed away on Saturday after a prolonged illness.

In a press statement issued by the club’s Media and Communications Directorate, the management, staff, players and supporters expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Galadima as a towering figure in Nigerian football administration.

Born on February 15, 1948, Galadima was widely regarded as an influential sports administrator whose tenure as head of the Nigeria Football Federation from 2002 to 2006 was marked by notable contributions to the development, organisation, and international representation of Nigerian football.

He also served as Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, where he played a significant role in promoting sports development at both grassroots and elite levels.

The late administrator was further credited as one of the founding fathers of Kano Pillars FC, helping to lay the foundation for the club’s emergence as a major force in domestic football.

The club noted that his legacy and commitment to the sport would remain an enduring part of its history.

His funeral prayer (Janaza) is scheduled to take place on Sunday at Masallacin Waje in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano.

Kano Pillars extended condolences to Galadima’s family, the Kano State Government and the wider Nigerian football community, praying for the repose of his soul and strength for those he left behind.
