Of this €2.467 billion, just PSG, Barcelona, Manchester City and Chelsea add up to over 1.1 billion.
The Parisian team tops the list of spending during the summer. They have spent €418m on players during the transfer window. PSG are ahead of City, with €244.3m and Barca, who have spent €234.5.
Barcelona, who are third in the list, are the Spanish team who have spent the most. The arrivals of Dembele, Semedo, Paulinho and the return of Deulofeu to the Camp Nou have ensured that the Catalan giants top the list in Spain.
What is most surprising is Real Madrid’s position in the standings: Los Blancos are in 16th place. Zidane’s side have spent €42.5m, on the signings of Theo Hernandez and Dani Ceballos.
If we take a look at the table, you can see that English teams have spent more than any other league. Chelsea, City, Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool and United invested a total of €806.8m and out of all of them, only Jurgen Klopp’s side are not in the top 10.
So, tonight the curtain is raised for the Champions League worth €2.476 billion, the most expensive of all time.
