Expert believes Real will regret selling Morata

Terry Gibson believes it is a mistake to sell Alvaro Morata.

Spanish football ‘expert’ Terry Gibson believes Real Madrid will live to regret selling striker Alvaro Morata to Chelsea as the Spanish international will develop into an “outstanding striker” under Antonio Conte’s tutelage.

The 24-year-old passed his medical on Friday ahead of a big-money move to Stamford Bridge but according to ‘Sky Sports’ resident Spanish football expert Terry Gibson, Real Madrid are making a mistake by letting the striker leave.

“I think this may prove to be a mistake on Madrid’s part,” he told ‘Sky Sports’. “Morata is a dynamic striker that works the channels, he’s got a great first touch and he’ll control the ball where it is knocked up to him and he’s good at attacking crosses – those attributes lend to doing well in the Premier League.”

Gibson was surprised by Real’s decsion to sell the Spaniard, claiming that he is better than first choice front man Karim Benzema: “He should have been playing ahead of [Karim] Benzema last season,” he asserted. “I’m surprised Real Madrid have allowed a player like Morata to leave, bearing in mind he’s six years younger than Benzema.”

Morata looks set to replace Diego Costa as Chelsea’s main man next season and Gibson believes that he is up to the task: “I don’t think anything will hold him back and 20 goals in the Premier League is well within reach,” he explained.

He ended by saying that “Chelsea are getting a top-class striker” and that “he will go on to be an outstanding striker. He has all the attributes you need to be a top-class centre-forward.”

High praise indeed, everything seems to suggest that Morata will be able to fill Diego Costa’s boots next season, though the proof will undoubtedly be in the pudding and the pudding, in this case, is goals.
