Coach of Nigeria U-20 women’s team, Christopher Danjuma Musa has reiterated that the Falconets’ qualification for the FIFA Women World Cup slated for France in 2018 is not negotiable.
He hereby expressed confidence that the Nigerian ladies would qualify for the World cup after the team must have dealt a big blow to their next opponent, South African ambition in January 2018.
He stated this after guiding the Falconets to a resounding 5-1 victory over their Moroccan counterparts at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, Benin City over the weekend, to qualify for the next stage of the final round hurdle with South Africa on 6-2 aggregate.
Coach Danjuma noted that playing against South Africa in 2018 for the final slot would be a very difficult match going by the pedigree of the South Africans and having played them before in the same competition.
He remarked that all African teams are now serious with their developmental programmes and the Falconets would not look down on any team, but keep focusing on qualifying for the France 2018 World Cup.
“It is not going to be a thing of worry or struggle, but I think it will be a disadvantage to them because they will prepare in a different way with different approach, for which we also are ready. Playing South Africa in our final hurdle will not be an easy game. All African teams are serious with their developmental programmes,” the coach told Tribunesport.
“We are not going to look down on any team, but keep our focus and goal, which is that we must be at the France 2018 World Cup, by God’s grace. France 2018 World Cup is not negotiable for us.
“We will be working on our finishing ahead of the next match. The team is progressing, we are still building the team and I know by the grace of God one time or the other we will be finding another player like Monday Gift and others in place to be in the team. We will get more talented players before France 2018, and have a perfect team that can win the trophy,” Danjuma said.
