A street fight broke between locals and visiting German fans late Monday in Istanbul ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League match between Galatasaray and Bayern Munich.
At least five people were injured, four of them German, when the two groups clashed on Monday evening in the central Beyoğlu district, Turkish private broadcaster NTV reported on Tuesday.
Footage from private news agency Demirören showed the sides throwing chairs and bottles at each other before police cars intervened, on the popular İstiklal shopping avenue.
The reason behind the fight was initially unclear.
Bayern have won their first games against Manchester United and Copenhagen. Galatasaray are two points behind in Group A.
