Lady Captain of Ibadan Golf Club (IGC), Dr Temitope Farounbi, is working hard to make a mark in the history of the club as she has designed a two-in-one programme – 2019 Ladies Open and Ladies Captain’s day scheduled for next week.
The four-day championship would tee off on Thursday, March 14-17 at the Home of Golf, Ibadan Golf Club (IGC), Onireke, Ibadan.
According to Farounbi, a neurologist at the University College Hospital (UCH), the lady section of the club are working hard to put logistics in place towards having a memorable championship.
“I can confirm to you that over 200 golfers across the country and international guest are coming down to IGC for this year’s Ladies Open because now, we have been enlisted by the world ranking.”
Farounbi called on ladies who have not embraced the game to do so saying that, “Golf is a life event where one exercises his/her body and relax.

“Golf is one of the best sports one can engage with in terms of exercise and relationship.
“As a person, the game has helped me to move round the country and interact with people and also allow me to think less of my work hazard because once I’m on the golf course, there is nothing to worry about.”
Meanwhile, President, Lady Golfers Association of Nigeria (LGAN), Ekanem Ekwueme, would be on the ground alongside other LGAN members, during this year’s championship.
