FIFA bans Tottenham’s Paratici worldwide over Juventus’ financial offenses

Fabio Paratici, the managing director of football at Tottenham, has been banned from football worldwide by FIFA due to his involvement in Juventus’ penalized accounting practices.

In January, Juventus received a 15-point deduction for inflating player transfer values and committing other financial offenses.

Paratici, who was the club’s sporting director between 2018 and 2021, was at the heart of the club’s dealings during the period under investigation.

Initially, Paratici received a 30-month ban from Italian football, but FIFA has now extended the punishment to have a worldwide effect.

“FIFA can confirm that following a request by the Italian FA (FIGC), the chairperson of FIFA disciplinary committee has decided to extend the sanctions imposed by FIGC on several football officials to have worldwide effect.”

Paratici was scheduled to appear in court this week for a preliminary committal hearing, but the proceedings have been postponed until 10 May. Juventus has appealed their 15-point penalty and will hear the ruling on 19 April.
