Nigeria’s Super Falcons have moved up one place to 36th in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking released on Tuesday, maintaining their position as the highest-ranked team in Africa.
The rise from 37th in December 2025 follows recent international matches, including two preparatory fixtures against the Cameroon women’s national football team ahead of upcoming continental competitions.
The ranking reflects mixed results in those matches, with Nigeria losing 1–0 in February before recording a 3–1 win in March.
Three days after the defeat, the 10-time African champions responded in the second fixture.
Forward Chinwendu Ihezuo equalised in the 32nd minute, heading in a cross from Rinsola Babajide.
Just before half-time, Babajide scored from close range to give Nigeria the lead. In the 64th minute, Michelle Alozie added the third goal from a cross by captain Rasheedat Ajibade.
The result earned Nigeria 3.35 points, taking their total to 1602 in April, still below the 1607 recorded in December.
South Africa, Ghana and Morocco follow in Africa, ranked 58th, 59th and 62nd respectively, while Spain remain top globally, ahead of the United States, England, Germany and Japan.
