Leading goalscorer in the Greek top flight, Brown Ideye has opened up on his difficult times while in England, saying he was not given enough time at West Bromwich Albion.
The Nigeria striker is the leading scorer in Greece with nine goals and has scored 11 goals in all competitions for Olympiacos.
However, the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner struggled to find his way to goal in England two years ago when he made a big-money move to West Brom.
He only scored seven goals in 31 Premier League appearances before he switched to Olympiacos.
“I have proved it right from the time I was playing in the Nigeria league that I am a goal getter. I have played in Switzerland, England, Ukraine and France. All the clubs I have played for I have scored double digits except in England and it was due to the fact I didn’t have enough playing time,” Ideye said.
The Edo State-born forward said despite the rough patch he encountered in England, he never doubted he can score goals.
“I have never doubted my ability in front of goal,” said the former Ocean Boys FC star.
“Sometimes football could be very funny – the goals will just dry up, you will try to find the back of the net but all your efforts will just prove abortive.
“I am so happy with my form and I have found home here in Greece. The club can count on me for the goals,” Ideye said.
