Nigerian says new daughter Sophia was ‘such a good girl’ to wait until golf finished before telling parents it was ‘time to go to the hospital’
PETER ODEMWINGIE has tweeted his delight after the birth of his daughter Sophia.
And if that wasn’t enough joy, the former West Brom and Stoke man was able to watch the end of the Ryder Cup before his wife went into labour.
After a dramatic day, the USA eventually regained the Ryder Cup with a Patrick Reed-inspired 17-11 win.
And the Nigerian striker was a surprise fan of the golf tournament.
“Thanks for the msgs. She is such a good girl she waited for the Ryder Cup to finish before telling us it’s time to go to the hospital,” he wrote.
Odemwingie impressed for West Brom between 2010 and 2013 before trying to engineer a move to Queens Park Rangers on January deadline day.
The forward drove to Loftus Road expecting a deal to be done but was sent back by then-QPR boss Harry Redknapp who said there had been a mix-up.
“I didn’t even know what to think; I was laughing and almost crying at the same time! I believed it was done, I had nothing to hide,” he told Sky Sports News HQ this year.
Odemwingie moved to Cardiff the following summer and most recently made 27 appearances for Stoke between 2014 and 2016.
The 35-year-old is currently a free agent after being released by the Potters and having a trial with Hull in July.
