Fred will play for Manchester United ―Ex-boss

Fred’s former manager, Mircea Lucescu is “really pleased” he has “completed his transfer to Manchester United”.

Fred is set to become United’s first signing of the summer, with a £52.5million deal in place. But what will he bring?

The midfielder is in the country on international duty with Brazil, making negotiations and any potential medical easier for United to oversee.

United hope to conclude the deal before the World Cup commences next week, and Mircea Lucescu is “proud” of his former player.

Lucescu signed Fred for Shakhtar in June 2013 and was key to his development in Russia.

Now the manager of the Turkish national team, Lucescu takes great pride in the part he played in Fred’s rise.

“I’m really pleased Fred has completed his transfer to Manchester United, I am proud of him,” he said.

“When I signed him at Shakhtar, Taison and Bernard were playing in his position.

“I transformed his position, giving him a more defensive role.”
