Family Worship Champions, Football Club (FWC FC) has won the Area 3 Centre of the Nigeria Nationwide League 1 (NLO 1) group stage.
The Coach Bunmi Haruna-tutored defeated last year’s winner Bussdor FC 4 -0 to go unbeaten in 9 league games. The team recorded 7 wins and drew just 2 to emerge the winner of the center with 23 points.
Team captain, Ifeanyi Omefe, scored a hattrick against Bussdor as the team recorded a total of 26 goals conceding just 5.
Head coach, Bunmi Haruna, who was full of praises for his team, in an interview with Sporting Tribune ,attributed the team’s overall success to meticulous preparations.
“It’s about preparations. The players and the team prepared very well for this and we’re very happy we got the results. It’s not an easy feat because all the teams were also well prepared.”
While expressing delight at the team’s performance, Haruna emphasised their offensive prowess and defensive solidity.
“We scored goals, loads of goals, and, you know, we didn’t concede much. So we’re very happy about the result. We’re very happy we topped the group. We started very well, winning 6 straight games and scoring a lot of goals. Then, we drew our next two games before the win against Bussdor.
“The teams presented us with different challenges and we learned a lot from them,” Haruna told Sporting Tribune.
FWC FC will face the winner of Bwari Center in the promotion playoffs on May 29th in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital.
