… urges continued excellence
In a show of appreciation and motivation, the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Honourable Wasilat Adegoke met with the Oyo contingent at the ongoing national sports event to commend their performance and encourage greater dedication.
Represented by the Chairman of the House Committee on Youth and Sports, Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Yusuf Adebisi, the commissioner praised the athletes for their achievements so far and urged them to remain committed to their various events, emphasising that their hard work aligns with the vision and support of Governor Seyi Makinde.

Encouraging the athletes to embody the state’s identity as trailblazers, he said, “Recite the anthem before your events so as to remind yourselves that you are here to set the pace as Oyo contingents.”
As promised by the commissioner, athletes were instantly rewarded for their medal-winning performances. Each gold medalist received ₦20,000 per medal, including members of the darts female doubles team, who were awarded ₦20,000 each. Silver medalists in weightlifting and Taekwondo Poomsae received ₦10,000 per athlete, while those who secured bronze medals in the same events were awarded ₦5,000 each.
The reward ceremony also had in attendance the General Manager of the Oyo State Sports Council, Mr. Tunde Ajibike, the former Chairman of the Council, Gbenga Ayinde AdéWùsì (aka Arole), and the Secretary of the Oyo State Football Association, Mr. Kehinde Ojelowo.
The gesture not only highlights the state’s commitment to supporting its athletes but also reinforces the belief that excellence, discipline, and patriotism will continue to be recognized and celebrated.
