Gattuso signs new three-year-deal with AC Milan

Gennaro Gattuso has signed a new three-year-deal to remain in charge of AC Milan.

The Italian club made the announcement on Thursday afternoon as they looked to sort the club legend’s future with his previous contract approaching renewal.

Gattuso’s chaotic and enthusiastic approach to management has improved the Rossoneri having guided them to the Italian cup final as well as the knockout stages of the Europa League.

The 40-year-old has agreed fresh terms that, according to Goal, will see his wages increased from the £105,000 salary he has had since making the step up from the Primavera team.

It is also claimed Gattuso will have a say in the club’s transfer plans for next season as part of the agreement.

Milan currently sit sixth in Serie A, six points adrift of Lazio in fifth and eight points off fierce rivals Inter Milan who are fourth.

’His priority has always been the team, putting it before anything else,’ Milan said in a statement on their website.

‘When asked about his contract he expected it to happen, but he always showed he was not in a hurry. He never hid the dream of staying for a long time at AC Milan: a dream that, today, came true.

‘Since the first day he became the First Team coach, Rino worked with great enthusiasm and passion; and now, consequently, he has extended his contract with the Rossoneri until 30th June, 2021.

‘There are no surprises, as everyone was already expecting this news, but now it’s official.’
