Gbolahan Salami goal fails to lift KuPS

The Nigeria international’s 12th league goal of the season was unable to save his club losing away in the Finnish elite division

Gbolahan Salami scored in KuPS’ 2-1 defeat away to Rovaniemen Palloseura in the Finnish Veikkausliiga.

Salami who has been in impressive form this season got the curtain raiser in the 25th minute but RoPS rallied back through Albert Prosa and Jarkko Lahdenmaek.

Azubuike Egwuekwe and Paul Onobi were also in action at Rovaniemen keskuskenttä.

The former Warri Wolves striker has now scored 12 league goals (13 in all competition) this season and tops his club’s scorers chart.

Marko Rajamäki’s side are placed seventh (38 points) on the 12-club Finnish top flight and will face relegation-threatened FC Inter who have three Nigerians – Faith Obilor, Kenedy Ugoala and Philip Njoku – on their book in the matchday 32 of the league, a game before the league finishes.
