Ghana FA boss mandates Grant to win Vice president of Ghana Football Association

George Afriyie says coach Avram Grant has been mandated to win the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with the Black Stars. The Israeli manager took Ghana to the runners-up spot at the 2015 Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea and Afriyie, who is also the chairman of the Black Stars’ management team, wants them to go one step further in Gabon next year.

“He should go and bring the cup, do well was two years ago but for 2017 is go and bring the cup or go and win the cup, we have passed the times of do well,” Afriyie told Kumasi-based Angel FM, as quoted by GHANASoccernet. Ghana has not won the Nations Cup since 1982.

The Black Stars in recent years lost to Egypt in the 2010 final and Ivory Coast in the last edition in 2015. 017 AFCON
