President of the Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF), Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, has hailed the performance of young Nigerian golfers at the inaugural ISF World School Golf Championship, which was held in Rabat, Morocco.
The competition, which was held between 14th to 21st July, 2025, witnessed the congregation of young golfers from around the world with high-level competition and rich cultural experiences.
Team Nigeria was led to the championship by the technical director of the NGF, Olajide Bolaji and the country was represented by two promising players: Master Oluwashetemi Oyero of Ikeja Golf Club and Master Oluwamayomile Adesan Orungbeja of Ikoyi Club 1938, who both competed in the U15 boys’ category.
Runsewe, who commended the duo for their courage, talent and sportsmanship, described their performance as a “remarkable milestone and the beginning of greater things to come for golf in Nigeria”.
The NGF president expressed gratitude to the chairman of ADL Solutions Limited, Mr Amoibi Jituboh, for his exceptional support and praised the President of the Nigeria School Sports Federation, Mrs Olabisi Joseph, the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Bukola Olopade and NSC chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, for their contributions in seeing that Nigeria participated at the event.
“This historic outing signals a new dawn for the sport of golf in our nation and affirms Nigeria’s rising presence in the game across the African continent. Our young talents have shown the world what is possible with commitment, opportunity and the right support,” Runsewe said.
Runsewe assured of the Federation’s support to promote grassroots talent, strengthening Nigeria’s global footprint in golf.
