No fewer than 200 golfers across Nigeria are expected to participate in the Abiodun Olatunji Open scheduled to take place from May 11 to 14 at the Ibadan Golf Club (IGC).
The tournament which is being organised by IGC is to among other factors, appreciate Abiodun Olatunji (SAN) for his donation towards the development of the Club.
Abiodun, donated administrative building to IGC which is expected to be commissioned during the tournament.
According to the chairman of the committee in charge of the event, Mr Yomi Salami, the building is an extension of the club house saying the structure could be ranked among the best in the golf clubs in the country.

“Our benefactor, Mr Abiodun Olatunji is a member of IGC and single-handedly donated an administrative building to the club.
“We are expecting golfers all over Nigeria, close to 200 golfers and it is going to be a busy weekend for us here at IGC. Efforts are on to make the tournament a very memorable one.
“The key issue is to commission the building on the final day and I can tell you that Oyo State State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, who happens to be a member of this Club will commision the project for us alongside other golfing dignitaries.”
Also in his remarks, Captain of IGC, Mr Tunji Oladosu said that the project was initiated by the late Captain, Mr Ola Ibironke ‘Dudu Heritage’ and the commissioning is expected to be an assemblage of the crème de la crème of the society.

“It is quite unfortunate that Mr Ibironke is no more to witness this ceremony but in his honour, we are assuring you that we are keeping the good works that he has started and that is why we are going to honour him with this project; the VIP lounge will be named after him to immortalise him.
“The tournament will start with Caddies/Professional on May 11 followed by the Amateur,” Oladose told sportingtribune.
