At least 150 golfers are set to feature in the maiden edition of Ola Ibironke ‘Dudu Heritage’ Memorial golf tournament to be held at the Ibadan Golf Club, Onireke, Ibadan.
The one-day tournament which is in memory of the late captain of Ibadan Golf Club would attract golfers across the country.
Speaking at a press conference, former captain of IGC and chairman, organising committee, Barrister Idowu Salami, said logistics have been put in place towards a hitch-free tournament.
Also present at the briefing include, second vice captain of the club, Mr Wale Oshigbohun, Competition Secretary, Engineer Ayo Aluko and Otunba Abimbola Davies.
“The tournament is put together in memory of our late captain, Mr Ola Ibironke popularly known as Dudu Heritage. As you all know, he passed on September 12, 2021 and it was during active meritorious service to this club.
“The demise occurred here in the pavilion of the club, so some of his friends decided that his memory must linger on and we decided to honour him with this tournament tagged: Ola Ibironke Memorial golf tournament.
“We are ready for the tournament as the cocktail party will be held on Friday (today) while the tournament proper and closing ceremony is scheduled for Saturday.
“The tournament is powered by friends of the late captain and part of the event, Fun Golfers Group which Dudu Heritage belongs to are ready to name hole 15 of the club after him in order to immortalise him.
“Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has also promised to be part of this event and he has donated generously to ensure the success of this tournament,” Salami said.
