Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has rubbished suggestions Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has any chance of joining them.
Veteran midfielder Iniesta announced on Friday he will be leaving Camp Nou at the end of the season and that has led to suggestions a reunion with Guardiola could be on the cards.
They know each other well from their time together at Barca and Guadiola will be looking to bolster his ranks with more quality when the transfer window opens in the summer.
Iniesta will be available on a free transfer, but a move to City will not be happening as the playmaker is expected to see out his career in China.
“I’m not going to promote the fake news,” Guardiola said. “He decides his own future and he has decided to go to China and play there and he’s going to finish there.”
The player himself has yet to confirm where he may end up, he said: ‘I said I would never play against Barca so it is not going to be in Europe.
“We will know at the end of the season – there are still things to talk about.”
