MANCHESTER CITY are reportedly set to pull the plug on their pursuit of three top English stars.
Pep Guardiola was keen on raiding title hopefuls Tottenham for key trio Dele Alli, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker.
But the Daily Mail claims City have decided to focus their efforts elsewhere, with a crazy amount of money needed to sign the aces due to their nationality.
Top homegrown players are hard to come by these days, and City’s £100million combined capture of Raheem Sterling and John Stones proves that English players automatically cost top dollar.
Combined with the fact that Tottenham are unwilling to sell – and the fact that Alli, Rose and Walker don’t want to leave anyway – City could now instead focus on Arsenal duo of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere.
There is also interest in Burnley’s Michael Keane and Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson, while Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford remains an option between the sticks.
But England’s No.1 goalie Joe Hart will not be given a second chance when he returns from his Torino loan and is expected to be sold.
Alexis Sanchez remains Guardiola’s top transfer target this summer, with City ready to battle Chelsea for the Chilean’s signature.
Fulham youngster Ryan Sessegnon could also be heading to the Etihad despite interest from elsewhere.
