Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has dismissed links to Barcelona and made it clear he is happy to play for Manchester City.
The 27-year-old has been at the Etihad Stadium since the summer of 2016 and, after an injury-ravaged first season, made 30 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side as they romped to the Premier League title last term.
However, the fact he only made 15 top-flight starts for the Citizens has led to speculation that the Germany international might seek a route out of the club to gain more regular first-team action.
The Catalans were linked with a summer swoop but it seems as though they will be wasting their time after Gundogan told reporters how he feels about being with City.
“I have two years to go on my current contract,” he told Arab News. “With the way we play, with the people around me, in the city, in the community. I really enjoy it here.”
