Deficit comes to light as Spanish giants weigh up £25m move for Aaron Ramsey…that could cost them only £14m
ARENAL are thought to still owe Real Madrid around £11million on the transfer of Mesut Ozil in 2013.
The Gunners agreed to pay the Spanish giants £42.5m for the German midfielder, whose switch to the Emirates was seen by fans as a major coup for boss Arsene Wenger.
The move came at time when Wenger was being hotly accused of being afraid to produce his cheque book.
The news surrounding Ozil’s fee has come to light following Real’s interest in signing Aaron Ramsey.
SunSport reports they want to line the midfielder up with fellow Welsh wizard Gareth Bale and are ready to pay £25m to do it.
Although Real are under a Fifa transfer ban until January 2018 they are confident of winning their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
In that case, the £11m owed for Ozil could be deducted from the fee Madrid settle on Ramsey with the Gunners.
Ozil, meanwhile, is close to extending his stay at Arsenal by penning a bumper new contract worth £200,000 a week.
The World Cup winner is understood to be settled in England and recently splashed out £10million on a new house in London.
Ozil has been in sparkling form this season and has fired five goals in his last six games, including a hat-trick against Ludogorets in the Champions League.
Tomorrow the Gunners face Manchester United at Old Trafford in the lunchtime kick-off.
