Harry Kane injury: Tottenham striker returns to training ahead of schedule

England striker has missed Spurs’ last six matches after damaging his ankle ligaments

HARRY KANE has returned to Spurs training following his lengthy injury layoff.

The England striker has missed Tottenham’s last six matches after he damaged his ankle ligaments in their 1-0 win over Sunderland last month.

He was initially expected to be out for eight to 10 weeks, but a second scan later revealed the injury was not as bad as first feared.

And he handed manager Mauricio Pochettino a huge boost as the 23-year-old returned to training for the first time on Thursday.

Kane took to Instagram to share his delight by saying: “Feels great to be back out on the field.”

Despite Tottenham sitting just one point behind joint leaders Liverpool and Manchester City, they have missed Kane’s physical presence in attack relying heavily on the form of Son Heung-Min to grab the goals.

The South Korean has scored three goals in his absence.

Pochettino opted to start with summer signing Vincent Janssen to lead the line against CSKA Moscow but he is still without a goal since his penalty against Gillingham on September 21.

Kane is unlikely to feature in the Premier League clash with Bournemouth on Saturday and the midweek cup tie with Liverpool as he continues his recovery.
