Henry, Alexis deny collusion over Arsenal to Man United move

Both Alexis Sanchez and Thierry Henry have rebuffed claims the Frenchman was in any way involved in Chilean’s decision to join Manchester United.

Sanchez moved to Old Trafford in a swap deal on Monday, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan making the move the other way.

In a statement to Arsenal fans on Instagram, Sanchez said: “I remember today, a conversation I had with Henry, who changed club for the same reason and today is my turn.”

Henry left the north London club to join Spanish giants Barcelona in 2007, but claims he had nothing to do with the 29-year-old’s move to Manchester.

In a tweet, Henry said: “I know I don’t need to explain this to the majority of Arsenal fans but contrary to speculation at no time did I tell Alexis Sanchez to leave Arsenal.

“I had no idea he was going to sign for Man Utd until I saw it on the news like the rest of you.”

Sanchez then followed up Henry’s comments with his own tweet, stating: “I want to clarify that Henry never told me to leave the club, it was a personal decision.

“He LOVES the club and someday it would be nice to see him as the arsenal coach because he loves the club.”
