Ibadan Golf Club Captain’s Day tees off Saturday

Ibadan Golf Club’s Captain’s Day golf tournament to mark the stewardship of  Mr Olumide Oyediran will be decided on Saturday at Ibadan Golf Club (IGC), Onireke, Ibadan. The tourney will tee off by 7:00 am.

Former IGC Captain, Oyediran, who handed over the mantle of leadership last month would host more than 200 golfers across the country in the one-day tourney.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Oyediran said the tourney is expected to begin with Caddies and staff kitty on Wednesday, before the arrival of guests on Friday for the cocktail party scheduled for the same day at 7:00pm.

According to Oyediran, logistics have been put in place to make the event a memorable one.

Oyediran said: “At least we would have close to 200 golfers across the country because golf is now gaining momentum due to media publicity and television rights that are associated with the game.

“Having served as IGC Captain,  the experience is quite encouraging in the sense that it afforded me the opportunity to put the things I have learned over the time to use as a Captain of IGC, holding committee meetings, handling budget,  annual general meeting, the experience is fantastic,” he said.

Present at the briefing were the chairman, Local Organising Committee,  Col. Ade Sunmonu (retd); Secretary, LOC,  Wale Olagoke; Prince Bamidele Abolarin,  Mr Bunmi Oladimeji, Olawale Ojo (Awake)  and Bernard Nduka.

The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, April 13 while the closing ceremony holds the same day at 5pm.

Some of the Clubs expected to participate in the tournament include, Sagamu Golf Club, MicCom and Country Golf Club, Ada, Tiger Golf Club, Ogbomoso Golf Club and Ekiti Golf Club Ikeja Golf Club, Ikoyi Golf Club, Abeokuta Golf Club, Sagamu Golf Club, MicCom and Country Golf Club, Ada, Ogbomoso Golf Club and Ekiti Golf Club.
