Ibadan Polo Club agog for 2018 international tourney

The Ibadan Polo Club, Eleyele, came alive on Wednesday as Polo players converge on Ibadan, to vie for honours at this year’s international Polo tournament.

Players from different top Polo clubs in Kaduna, Port Harcourt, Lagos and as far as Argentina would compete for nine trophies which are at stake.

The event according to the tournament manager, Koyinsola Owoeye, has enjoyed the support of Dangote Cement (Major Sponsor), Senator Abiola  Ajimobi, Lead City Group, Makon Group, Shoreline, Princeton Health Management and Boff Insurance.

Polo players who would be competing for prizes are: Koyinsola Owoeye handicap (+1) who doubles as the captain of Ibadan Polo Club, Ahmad Umar handicap (+3), Kwame Isa with (+3), Seyi Oyinlola and Jamil Umar with (+2) handicap.

While speaking with Tribunesport in Ibadan on Wednesday, the President of Ibadan Polo Club, Dr. Sina Adegunle, said all arrangements to ensure a hitch-free tournament has been put in place.

“This year’s tournament will be highly competitive, owing to the high pedigree of the players who would be competing in the tournament. We have also arranged for hi-tech entertainers from the music and comedy industry to entertain guests daily immediately after the matches while food and drinks
would be available for guests and spectators to buy at reasonable prices”. Adegunle noted.

The trophies at stake according to Adegunle include: Ade Alakija Cup, Brig. General Rotimi Cup, Ibadan Cup, while Shoreline Cup, NFL Cup, Engr Seyi Makinde Cup, Chief Babajide Agbeja Cup, Prof. Jide Owoeye Cup and Gov. Abiola Ajimobi Cup would also be for selected category.
