Ibrahimovic wants to re-sign for United when he recovers.
The 35-year-old striker has been linked with a host of clubs this summer after his deal came to an end at Old Trafford, but it seems Ibtahimovic wants to continue with the Red Devils once he recovers from his knee ligament injury.
The Swede has been out since sustaining the injury in April, but could sign a six-month deal with Mourinho’s side. The Portuguese manager is certainly keen, saying he could resume at United despite Lukaku’s arrival: ‘Why not wait for such a good player that gave us so much?’, Mourinho said.
Ibra’s agent Mino Raiola said the player had received offers from ‘many leagues’ but cleared he would ‘remain in Europe 100 per cent’, adding he still had ‘one more year, maybe two’ left in his career.
Before United’s Super Cup defeat at the hands of Madrid, Mourinho hinted the striker could rejoin: ‘Maybe he’ll stay with us. He’s not got a contract, but he’s still close to Manchester, and the fact we are involved in the Super Cup now is also his merit’.
Negotiations have begun and as Ibrahimovic battles back to fitness it appears he has one aim: to shine at Old Trafford once again.
