The maiden edition of the Nigeria Ladies Professional Golf Tournament to be hosted by Ibadan Golf Club, Onireke, Ibadan, is scheduled to take place next week.
The three-day tournament which is being presented by Golf Together Ltd will be held from May 20 to 23.
According to a Director from Golf Together, Barrister Henry Endeley, the essence of the tournament is to promote a competitive game between Nigerian Ladies Professional Golfers for the love of the game.
He stated that future tournaments will also help to encourage and develop talented amateurs into professional golfers.
“We set out to establish a corporate body with the entire aim of promoting the game of golf within ourselves, families and friends.
“This tournament is going to be an annual event. At the end of this tournament, we will announce the date for the 2025 tournament. Other reasons for Golf Together.
“We are promoting Nigerian ladies’ professional to compete with the world. Our golf professional ladies are good enough to play in St. Andrew, good enough to play in Augusta and anywhere in the world,” Endeley said.
Also, Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, Golf Together Ltd, Hannah Obadina, in her remarks, said arrangements have been concluded to make the tournament a memorable one.
Obadina, who is also a Lady Professional golfer said she expects her colleagues across the country to participate in the tournament.
“This is an opportunity to sharpen your game, work on your game so as to make money because this is a real competition,” Obadina said.
