The Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) is set to host a Captain’s Day golf tournament in celebration of the successful tenure of its Captain, Seyi Alaba.
The one-day tournament, tagged ‘Alabama Bows Out’, is scheduled to tee off on Saturday, February 14, while a cocktail party and arrival of guests will take place a day earlier on Friday, February 13.
The event will climax with a grand closing ceremony on Saturday at 5:00 pm, where participants will compete for numerous prizes lined up for the tournament.
Speaking ahead of the event, the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Barrister Titilola Sodo, described the tournament as one that promises to be memorable and befitting of the outgoing captain’s achievements.

According to him, Seyi Alaba has recorded tremendous accomplishments during his two-year tenure as Captain of the Ibadan Golf Club, contributing significantly to the growth and stability of the club.
He further revealed that over 250 golfers have already indicated interest in participating in the tournament saying the tournament is expected to attract golfers, club members, and dignitaries from across the country, making it one of the most significant golfing events on the IGC calendar.
“Our motto for this year’s Captain’s Day tournament is ‘Swing of Gratitude, Driving Excellence,’ which reflects our appreciation of Captain Alaba’s leadership and service,” Sodo said.
“This tournament is designed to celebrate a captain who has given his all to the Ibadan Golf Club. Captain Seyi Alaba’s tenure has been marked by progress, unity and remarkable achievements, and we are proud to honour him in this grand style.
“The level of interest has been overwhelming, with over 250 golfers already indicating their readiness to participate. This shows the respect and goodwill Captain Seyi Alaba enjoys within the golfing community.”
