Igoche rallies support for new sports minister, Enoh

A basketball promoter and proprietor of Mark D Ball Initiative, Mark Igoche, has called for total support for the new Minister of Sports, Senator John Enoh, who was appointed last week by the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as a member of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) which is to be inaugurated on Monday, August 21, 2003 at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to Igoche, sports lovers in particular and Nigerians, in general, need not criticise Enoh’s appointment but rather give the new minister all the support needed to succeed and surpass the records and achievements of his (Enoh) predecessors

Welcoming the minister, Igoche encouraged him to toe the path of justice, fairness, equity and uphold the rule of law. Igoche in a statement he personally signed and made available to Tribune Sports read, “Dear Distinguished Senator, I welcome you to your new assignment, assigned to you by Mr President. Your appointment and deployment to the Sports Ministry can be described as timely and divine, following the mess rocking the sector.

“Your legislative background puts you at an advantage which will in turn tackle the convulsive nature being experienced in Nigerian sports at the moment. When this is done, Nigeria will definitely return to its place on the global sports map.

“No doubt, the task before you is enormous, but if you toe the path of justice, fairness, equity and uphold the rule of law, the slippery paths experienced by your predecessors will be far from you. As a partner, we will continue to support you in your quest to reposition sports in Nigeria.

“Finally, I will appeal to all sports lovers to tone down their criticisms of the new Sports Minister, as he possesses the required knowledge to administer sports alongside other experienced career sports administrators working in the Ministry.”

Enoh will preside only over the Sports Development Ministry as the Youth Affairs is now a separate ministry on its own.
