My goal lifted Leicester City’s morale ―Iheanacho

Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Kelechi Iheanacho has hailed the strength Leicester City showed during their 3-1 victory over Arsenal

Iheanacho broke the deadlock, while strikes from Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez sealed the three Premier League points

The former Manchester City striker credited Vardy and Mahrez for their efforts while speaking to LCFC TV.

The Nigerian international fired home Fousseni Diabaté’s knock down on 14 minutes before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang levelled matters early in the second half.

But goals from Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez sealed the points for Claude Puel’s outfit in their final home fixture of the Premier League season.

Speaking to LCFC TV, Iheanacho said: “It’s always good to be involved in a good sport, a great team. We started well and we got the first goal. We had the confidence and the momentum and we finished well.

“It was important to get the first goal to get us going and get our confidence back for the last couple of games. I think we’ve got our confidence back now, we’re strong now, and we’ll keep going.

“It’s good to be involved, as well as everyone, to be involved in everything, to help your team work hard. When you work hard, you get good results.”

Discussing Vardy and Mahrez’s strikes, Iheanacho added: “It was 1-1, then we got a penalty, everyone was waiting, and Jamie Vardy is always good with that and he scored a penalty, so it was a good goal.

“It’s always good to be involved in a good sport, a great team. We started well and we got the first goal. We had the confidence and the momentum and we finished well.

“Riyad is fantastic, he’s a great player, and the finish was fantastic. We did well and we’ll keep going. We’re looking forward to the next game.

“It’s always good to play at Wembley Stadium. It’s a nice feeling, so looking forward to playing at that stadium.”
