The Oga Boys look doomed but their shot stopper was delighted nonetheless with their surprise victory on the road.
After his heroics in Ikorodu United’s victory against Heartland FC, goalkeeper Adamu Azeez has expressed his delight at helping his side record a surprise result.
The shot stopper came on for Segun Fatunwase who was injured in the first half of the keenly contested encounter.
Azeez was delighted to help his side clinch three points at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in the Match Day 34 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) tie on Sunday.
“Sunday was a good outing for the entire team,” Azeez told Goal.
“Our major aim is to end the season on a high.
“Obviously as a goalkeeper it’s always good to keep a clean sheet and help the team win.
“I am glad that in one way or another; I helped the team win a centre that you don’t just travel to pick a point.
“My team-mates must also be applauded for the way they supported me throughout the match.
“They made it easier for me to settle into the match.
“I also wish Segun a quick recovery.
“It was a difficult match, which needed a big effort, and in which the team did a great job to get a good result.”
Ikorodu United are bottom of the NPFL table with 26 points from 31 matches.
